We believe children’s behaviors serve a purpose and are best understood as a means of communication. Our goal is to understand the underlying struggles contributing to emotional and behavioral difficulties at home and/or school and to help children find more adaptive ways of getting their needs met.
There are a multitude of reasons why a child or teen may benefit from entering therapy:
- Adjustment to Life Circumstances
- Difficulty Managing Anger
- Friendship Difficulties
- Anxiety
- Attachment Trauma
- Depression
- Self-Injury
- Trauma
- Separation Anxiety
- Divorce
- Family Struggles
- Medical Trauma
- Complicated Grief and Loss
- Explosive Behaviors
How therapy can help
Children
Each child’s experience is unique and special. The foundation of successful therapeutic work with children is a genuine and compassionate relationship with their therapist. From there, our therapeutic approach is developed to directly address the specific needs of your child. We partner with each child’s support system to ensure a collaborative approach.
Adolescents
Adolescence is a particularly challenging time to navigate in a young person’s life. A combination of internal and external pressures can converge, creating many challenges. Therapy can serve as a judgement-free space for adolescents to be heard, understood and challenged. The goals of the client and the family are addressed in the work to promote successful outcomes and lasting benefits.
