Outdoor Social Skills and Friendship Group
As we start this new school year, we are entering the third school year impacted by COVID for our precious kids and their incredible teachers. Understandably, many students are experiencing difficulties adjusting to all the changes, connecting with peers, and managing anxiety. Recognizing a need for kids to have in-person time with their peers practicing social skills and being in community with each other, Alexandria Place Therapy plans to offer an 8-week outdoor social skills group this fall.
Who is this for?
Our group will be for 3rd to 5th graders and will include safety protocols such as mask-wearing and COVID screenings.
Skills we’ll focus on include: making friends, problem-solving, sharing and understanding emotions, and cooperation.
Our aim is for each child who participates to grow in self-confidence, emotional strength, and caring compassion.
When and where will we meet?
We’ll meet in the courtyard in front of our office on Monday evenings from 6-7 pm, September 27th – November 15th, for 8 sessions total, weather permitting. Our offices are located at 108A South Columbus Street, Alexandria, Virginia, 22314.
What is the cost?
A 30-minute group intake/screening ($100) will be required for each participant to get started. The cost per group session is $85.
