Finding Refuge in Nature: A Winter Mindfulness Workshop for Adults
When stress feels constant and the world feels overwhelming, it can be hard to find space to slow down and reset. Spending intentional time outdoors can be a powerful way to reconnect with yourself and regulate your nervous system—especially during the winter months.
Finding Refuge in Nature is a nature-based mindfulness workshop for adults and the first offering in our ongoing Nature-Based Mindfulness Workshop Series, created for those feeling depleted, emotionally worn down, or in need of grounding and restoration. This winter workshop invites participants to connect with the rhythms of the natural world while engaging in gentle mindfulness, somatic awareness, and reflective practices.
Throughout the workshop, we’ll explore themes of change, impermanence, slowing down, and replenishment as they show up in both nature and daily life. Participants will engage in nature-informed mindfulness practices, eco-art, and guided reflection in a supportive, neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQIA+ celebratory space.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00–11:30 AM at a local Arlington/Alexandria park (location to be confirmed). The cost is $75 per person.
This workshop is facilitated by Hela Baer, LCSW, E-RYT (she/they), a trauma-informed therapist and certified nature-informed practitioner who integrates embodied mindfulness and human–nature connection into their work.
If you’re seeking a calmer pace, time outdoors, and a supportive environment to reconnect with yourself, this nature-based mindfulness workshop for adults offers a meaningful opportunity to pause and restore.
